FDA and USDA recall coverage

RecallCheck checks two official U.S. recall sources because food oversight is divided between agencies.

FDA

RecallCheck refreshes FDA firm-issued recall announcements from the FDA's official annual recalls XML dataset. FDA covers most foods and beverages outside USDA FSIS jurisdiction.

USDA FSIS

RecallCheck refreshes meat, poultry, and related USDA notices from the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service Recall API v1. USDA records can include recalls and public-health alerts.

Why the sources are shown separately

FDA and USDA are refreshed independently. If one source fails, RecallCheck retains that agency's last known records and reports the failure instead of presenting the other agency's successful refresh as if both were current.
